EXAM TRACKS
In order to become an actuary, there are a series of professional exams you need to pass as well as educational requirements you can complete while you are a student. The two exam streams are the SOA and CAS.The SOA track is common for life and health insurance, retirement benefits, pensions, and emerging sectors such as enterprise risk management, asset liability management, and most actuarial consulting. The CAS track is targeted toward property and casualty insurance including auto, property, and liability insurance. The course mapping to help you prepare for the requirements is outlined below.

The Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) University Accreditation Program gives students credits for professional exams for receiving the minimum specified grade. Please note, the CIA accreditation program is not transferable to the SOA exams but is transferable for P, and FM for CAS only.
